I wasn’t 100% sold on
Dune Awakening Solari U4GM until I saw the “Trooper – Schools of the Imperium” trailer. Now I’m officially onboard. This trailer was exactly what Funcom needed to show off—depth, diversity, and direction.
The way they broke down the Schools of the Imperium gave the game a sense of structure I hadn’t seen before. Up until now, we’ve known Dune: Awakening is a survival MMO, but now we know it has real roleplay and class depth too. The Schools aren’t just flavor—they’re function.
I got chills watching the Sardaukar scene. Those guys are terrifying—in a good way. And then it flips to Bene Gesserit being all calm and calculated, like they’re playing a completely different game. It’s smart of Funcom to include schools that appeal to different kinds of players—tactical thinkers, combat fanatics, support mains, roleplayers.
Also, the production value of this trailer was top-tier. The music, voiceover, transitions—it felt like a cinematic universe, not just a game trailer. Honestly, it felt like Dune. I think that’s the highest praise I can give.
This trailer told me that Funcom respects the source material but isn’t afraid to innovate. If they stick the landing on mechanics and balance, this could be the definitive Dune experience we’ve all wanted. Anyone else feel like pre-ordering right now?
