As a collector, I live for these kinds of rumors. A surprise PS5 bundle usually means one of bo6 bot lobby two things: either a cool game-themed console or a hardware variation we weren’t expecting. I’m crossing my fingers for the former. Imagine a “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” PS5 with Cloud’s sword etched into the chassis and matching controller. That would be a day-one purchase for me.
Sony’s past special editions have been hit or miss. The “Spider-Man 2” console was a banger. But some others, like the basic game bundles, don’t feel special enough. If this rumor leads to a true collector’s item, I’m in.
There’s also a rumor going around about a “PlayStation Legacy” bundle—maybe including digital versions of classic games or themed cosmetic covers. That would be incredible. I still have my old PS1 and PS2 consoles, and a bundle that celebrates that history would be smart branding.
The only downside? Scalpers. If this thing is rare or exclusive, you can bet it'll be impossible to get without paying double on eBay. I hope Sony has learned from past launch fiascos and puts some kind of anti-bot system in place.
