After playing through the new Diablo 4 items crossover event in WoW and reading the expanded lore, I’m buzzing with speculation about what’s next. Blizzard’s narrative team clearly put thought into linking the two universes beyond a one-time event.

The event hints at an ancient cosmic force connecting Azeroth and Sanctuary, suggesting this crossover could be the start of a larger shared universe or even joint expansions. The lore suggests characters like Illidan and some Diablo demons share intertwined fates, which opens many doors.

Could we see Sanctuary-themed zones in Azeroth? Or maybe a WoW hero appearing in Diablo’s world? The possibilities are huge. I think Blizzard might be testing the waters to gauge fan reactions and narrative potential.

Also, the fact that some Diablo lore elements explain Warcraft's Burning Legion origins makes me think Blizzard might retcon or expand existing storylines to deepen this connection. That’s exciting for lore fans but could be tricky to balance for those who prefer clear boundaries between franchises.
